As many of you obivously know, Mythology Wiki is an online resource dedicated to having the utmost best information on mythology, legends, and folklore. Now Mythology Wiki is expanding its topic to have information not just on the previously stated subjects, but also on these subjects' impact on modern popular culture (pop culture). We will have information on modern literature, television programming, comics, films, video games, and other media that are heavily influenced by mythology, legends, and folklore. We will not provide too depth of a coverage upon these subjects (such as individual pages for video game characters will not be available) and suggest that the readers search for better coverage upon them on wikis specifically dedicated to that.

Here are some examples from each pop culture category that would be great examples of pages to add to the wiki:

  • Modern literature
    • Harry Potter series
    • Percy Jackson series
    • Lord of the Rings series
  • Television
    • Clash of the Gods
    • Hercules: The Legendary Journies
    • Spartacus (TV series)
  • Comics
    • Marvel universe comics
      • Thor
      • The Avengers
    • Brat-halla (webcomics)
    • Valhalla (Danish comic series)
  • Films
    • Thor
    • The Avengers
    • Harry Potter movie series
    • Percy Jackson movie series
    • Lord of the Rings movie series
    • Disney's Hercules
    • O Brother, Where Art Thou? (modern take on The Odyssey)
  • Video games
    • Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series (and pretty much any video game series made by Atlus due to most of them having mythological elements as crucial points in the main plots)
    • God of War series
    • Tomb Raider: Underworld
    • Kid Icarus series
    • Valkyrie Profile games
    • Ōkami

These are excellent examples of media that have major mythology influences. If the media has little references to mythology then it shouldn't have its own article and should be placed under a "In popular culture" section on an already-existing article. For example, a minor referece to Thor should be placed under the "In popular culture" section on the Thor article.

Well that's it for this site update/blog post. Happy editing!
