The Tibicena, also known as Guacancha, are creatures from the Guanches’s mythology, the pre-Hispanic inhabitants of the Canary Islands. They appears as a large wolf-like creatures with red eyes and are covered in long black wool. They are believed to be demons or genies. Inhabitants of Tenerife (where they were called Guacanchas) and Gran Canaria (where they were called Tibicenas) shared a belief in them. Both names refer to the same mythical being.
Some existing caves today are still referred to as Tibicena lairs, such as "Cueva del Tibicena". According to legend, Tibicenas attacked livestock and people, particularly at night. Guanche mythology posited Tibicenas as offspring of Guayota, the devil or malignant deity in Guanche mythology.
