Samael (Hebrew: סַמָּאֵל, Sammāʾēl, "Venom/Poison of God"; Arabic: سمسمائيل, Samsama'il or سمائل, Samail; alternatively Smal, Smil, Samil, or Samiel) Is an angel from the jewish teology, his figure is similar to Christian Satan, but he is not exactly the same, Samael is a destroyng angel too, he fougth againts Michael for the Moses´s body, sometimes Samael is considere as member of the Seven Archangels.

Judaism[]

Samael has diferents points of view inside of the judaism, some studies Samael is identified with the serpent of Eden, who manipule to Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden fruit, Samael is considered by somes as the father of Cain with Eve, usually Samael is seen as the husband of Lilith the first woman, it is believed that Samael is the father of some demons. The name Samael meant poison of god or blindness of god, some angelogians confirm that the angel who fougth against Job was Samel, in some traditions Samael is also depicted as the angel of death, who rules the Fifth Heaven and conmander of two million angels, Samael is the chief of the Destroying Angels too.

In the kabbalah Samael is one of many servants of GOD, he is also as fifth of the archangels of the world of Briah, in Treatise on the Left Emanation that is a Kabbalistic work, Samael is member of qlippoth, and being the prince of all demons and spouse of Lilith, and are to parallel of Adam and Eve, together were an emanation from the Throne of Glory as a counterpart.

In the apocryphal Gedulat Moshe (Apocalypse of Moses) Samael is mentioned as being in 7th Heaven:

In the last heaven Moses saw two angels, each five hundred parasangs in height, forged out of chains of black fire and red fire, the angels Af, "Anger", and Hemah, "Wrath", whom God created at the beginning of the world, to execute His will. Gnosticism[]

In the Gnostic Cosmogony the name Samael meant "blind god" and is along with Yaldabaoth, Sakla and Nebro is one of four names of the Demiurge, who is a malevolent and ignorant deity or just an ignorant deity, the name Samael refers to that the Demiurge can not see beyond of the materia, proving like this his ignorant nature.

Anthroposophy[]

in the Anthroposophy Teology, Samael is member of of the seven archangels: The Pope Saint Gregory I gives the seven archangels as Anael, Gabriel, Michael, Oriphiel, Raphael, Samael, and Zerachiel. They are all imagined as rulers of a special assignment to act as a global Zeigeist, for each periods of about 360 years.

Conspiracy[]

Samael in some traditions was member of the watchers, an angelic group who married with many human women, some scholars affirm that Samael just wanted to improve mankind with his angelic genes.
