'Piyesiw (ᐱᔦᓯᐤ) is the Cree word for the legendary Thunderbird. They are giant mythological thunder-birds common to the northern and western tribes. Thunder is caused by the beating of their immense wings. Although Piyesiw are very powerful beings, they rarely bother humans.
