Pari (Persian پری) peri in Turkish, or pairika in Avestan are admirable creatures in the form of beautiful women in Persian mythology, later preserved in the legends of the Turkic-speaking peoples of Asia Minor and Central Asia, the North Caucasus, Transcaucasia, the Volga region and the Southern Urals. In some myths, peris have a connection with the water element, there is even a special variety of them - water paris having the character of "mistresses of water".
