Ningal is a goddess of marshes and reeds. She was married to Sin (Sumerian: Nannar), the moon god and, by him, is mother to Inanna (Ishtar), Ereshkigal and Utu. She was worshipped by the cow-herders of the marshlands. She is the daughter of Enki and Ninhursag.
