Mictēcacihuātl (Lady of the Dead) is the Aztec queen of Mictlān, the Aztec version of the Underworld. She rules over the Afterlife with her husband, Mictlāntēcuhtli. Her role is to watch over the bones of dead and preside over the Aztec festivals of the dead. She was represented by a flayed and with a jaw agaped, which she used to to swallow the stars during the day.
