Jesus Christ or Jesus of Nazareth was a Jewish religious leader in the 1st century and the central figure of Christianity. His followers consider him to have been sent by God to die for the sins of mankind, offering a path to salvation through his return from death. His disciples called him the Messiah (Anointed One), a figure in Judaism descended from King David who would lead Israel to glory.
Through his teachings, Christianity spread to Rome, eventually becoming one of the world's most widespread religions.
Within the central doctrine of Christianity known the Trinity, God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are considered to be three distinct "persons," but of one "essence." Because they are of the same essence, they are one God, and each person of the Trinity are fully God, and not merely one-third of God.

The name Jesus is the Latination of the hebrew Yeshua, the name Yeshua means YHVH is a salvation.
