The Helm of Awe or Helm of Terror (Old Norse: Ǿgishjalmr, Œgishjalmr; Icelandic: Ægishjálmur) is an Icelandic magical stave that used as a symbol worn by Vikings for invincibility. A physical object called "Helm of Terror" is referenced as one item Sigurðr takes from the dragon Fáfnir's hoard after he slays him in Vǫlsunga saga.[1] Stanza 16 of Fáfnismál in the Poetic Edda also mentions:
