The Hellboy Universe is a shared fictional universe based on the Hellboy-comics and it's various spinoffs that was created by Mike Mignola, as well as the movies and tie-in novels.

The comics feature figures, creatures and concepts from both traditional sources like various religions, mythologies and folktales, as well as from more recent genres like gothic and cosmic horror.

Summary[]

The overall story of the universe follows the figure of Hellboy, a Cambion who was summoned by the Nazis and Russian mystic Grigori Rasputin during the end of World War II through an occult ritual hoping to change the outcome of the war, but who was discovered by the Allied instead, with one their members adopting him as a son.

Hellboy would grow up to be a field agent for Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, an organization charged with protecting America and the world from the occult, paranormal and supernatural, becoming one of it's most effective members.

Hellboy encounters figures from various world-religions throughout the comics, from gods to demons to vampires and werewolves, and slowly finds out also that he is the Beast of the Apocalypse, destined to end the world...
