Dué or Duende Dué is a goblin often reported by the Tariana tribe, natives of the Rio Negro route (Amazon).

Legend[]

Dué is an evil creature who decided to bring evil to the world through various natural and supernatural misfortunes, such as drying the land causing hunger, drought, great fires in the woods, and stealing the sun's rays bringing the cold and darkness to the world. When all his devastation was over, Dué gathered the bones of the men and animals killed by his fault and resurrected them with his powers so that he could repeat the evil he did.

His actions displeased the god Tupã who decided to punish him. So Tupã made a dam at the source of the river so that it would rise and flood the land, men and animals took refuge to the hills só they could survive and after three moons the earth dried up and they could return. And as for Dué, it is not known what happened to him, but he was never seen again.
