Chernava is a Slavic deity. She is a daughter of the Morskoy Tsar and Morskaya Tsaritsa. Chernava is a mermaid. She is also the spirit and personification of the river of the same name.[1][2][3]

When Morskoy Tsar offered Sadko a new bride, Sadko took Chernava. On their wedding night he did not touch her. When Sadko was asleep, Chernava had transformed into the river, helping him to get into the human world. Sadko woke up on the shore of the river Chernava and rejoined his first wife.
Appearance[]
Chernava is described as dark-haired, small, scrawny and young girl. Her upper body is human, while the lower body is a fish's tail.
