Chandra (also known as Soma) is the Hindu god of the moon. As such he numbers among the Navagrahas. He is married to 27 daughters of Daksha, son of Brahma . His chief wife is Rohini. He rides in a chariot driven by 10 horses or rams. By Tara he is father of Budha, the god of Mercury. The Kuru dynasty number among his numerous human descendants, particularly those of the Lunar dynasty or Chandravansha.
