In demonology, Bune is a Great Duke of Hell, mighty and strong, who has thirty legions of demons under his command. Bune is depicted as a three-headed dragon, being his heads like those of a dog, a griffin, and a man.
He changes the place of the dead and makes them demons that are under his power to gather together upon those sepulchers. Bune makes men eloquent and wise, and gives true answers to their demands and also richness. He speaks with a comely high voice.
Bune in the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum[]
The Pseudomonarchia daemonum, or False Monarchy of Demons, by the Dutch occultist Johann Weyer, was published as an appendix to his book titled De praestigiis daemonum, or On the Tricks of Demons, in 1577. The description of Bune from the Pseudomonarchia daemonum is as follows:

Bune in the Lemegeton Clavicula Salomonis (Ars Goetia)[]
The Lemegeton Clavicula Salomonis or Lesser Key of Solomon is an anonymously written book of demonology that is believed to have been complied sometime during the 17th century CE. The work is divided into five books, the first of which, known as the Ars Goetia, lists 72 demons. The Ars Goetia is heavily based off of Johann Weyer's Pseudomonarchia daemonum.
In 1904, the British occultist and founder of the religion of Thelema, Aleister Crowley, published a version of the Lesser Key of Solomon which was translated by another British occultist, Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers, and contained additional invocations added by Crowley. The Ars Goetia's passage on Bune from the 1904 version is as follows:
| “ | BUNE, or BIME. - The Twenty-sixth Spirit is Bune (or Bim). He is a Strong, Great and Mighty Duke. He appeareth in the form of a Dragon with three heads, one like a Dog, one like a Gryphon, and one like a Man. He speaketh with a high and comely Voice. He changeth the Place of the Dead, and causeth the Spirits which be under him to gather together upon your Sepulchres. He giveth Riches unto a Man, and maketh him Wise and Eloquent. Bune in the Dictionnaire Infernal[]
The Infernal Dictionary is a book of demonology written in 1818 by the French occultist Jacques Auguste Simon Collin de Plancy. The entry for Bune is as follows:
| “ | Bune, a powerful demon, Grand Duke of Hell. He has the form of a dragon with three heads, only the third of which is that of a man. He speaks only by signs; he moves corpses, haunts cemeteries and gathers demons on tombs. He boasts of enriching and making eloquent those who serve him. Thirty legions obey him.
The demons subject to Bune, and called Bunis , are feared by the Tartars, who say they are very harmful. One must have a clear conscience to be safe from their malice; for their power is great and their number is immense. However, the sorcerers of the country tame them, and it is by means of the Bunis that they boast of discovering the future.[3] |
