Berber mythology is the set of ancient beliefs of the Berber people, one of the oldest inhabitants of North Africa. Many of the Berber beliefs have local origins, while others are the product of foreign influences (i.e. Sub-Saharan African, Egyptian, Phoenician, Iberian, Arabian, Greek, Jewish, Christian, and Islamic mythology). Berber mythology consist of heroes, deities, creatures, and ancestral worship. Berber ancestral worship and legendary creatures have become an integral part of the regional jinn lore.
