ʾAṯṯūr is the oldest form of the Assyrian name Aššur (anglicized as Ashshur, Asshur, Assur, and Asur, Atthur, Athur), it is also attested in Arabic, Old Persian, Ugaritic, and early Akkadian was the original name of the grandson of Noah (which is literally translated as "I rebel") but also used for a city and heathen god whom is the patron god of the city Assur and the god of the sun, lordship, and rebellion, related to Dharmic asuras and Zoroastrian Ahura Mazdā, the word "ʾaṯṯūr" can also be translated as an overlord which is the same meaning as Sanskrit asura. This god had also been worshipped in Ugarit.
