ALIGNAK--inuit-mythology

Rendering of Alignak

Alignak is the god of the moon and weather in Inuit mythology. He is responsible for the day-to-day manifestations of earthquakes, comets and eclipses. He also sets the waves in motion and knows a thing or two about gravitational pull.

In popular culture[]

In the television series Avatar: the Last Airbender, the Northern and Southern Water Tribes bear a distinct resemblance to the Inuit-Yupik culture of the northern circumpolar region of Earth. Similar to the Inuit, a Lunar deity (Tui) is responsible for the gravitational pull of the tides and waves.
