Aequitas is the Latin divine personification of fairness, justice, and equality. The word "equity" is derived from it. The personification meant equality for everyone in Ancient Rome.

The scholar Cicero referred to it as having three forms, one applying to the gods with a more religious meaning, second applying to the underworld spirits with a sacred approach, and third to the mortals symbolizing justice.

In the times of the Roman Empire, Aequitas was a part of support of the emperor, shown in the name Aequitas Augusti, which appeared on currency.

Aequitas was also represented as a goddess, shown holding a cornucopia and a libra (scale). The libra symbolized the idea of "honest measure".
