Acutipupu is a creature that is both male and female and lived in Serra do Japó.
Legend[]
The legend of Acutipupu is not very well known and there is no place called "Serra do Japó". Possibly, the word is a corruption of the word Japi, whose mountain range is in the state of São Paulo.
History[]
It is said that Acutipupu, when she was a woman, gave birth to daughters more beautiful than the stars. On the other hand, when meeting the male body, she fertilized women and they gave birth to strong and brave boys, radiant as the sun.
One day, in the form of a woman, Acutipupu had a daughter by Uaiú, an indigenous warrior who was imposing the law of Jurupari in the region. The girl was called Erem and as she couldn't help but be, she stood out for her great beauty.
Uaiú desired her and wanted to make love to his own daughter, but Erem refused and ran away to escape her father. She was taken in by a tribe headed by Cancelri and they both ended up marrying.
However, Uaiú did not abandon his objective and declared war on Cancelri. In this fight, all of this tribe died and Acutipupu lost, thus, his dear daughter.
