ʾAṯiratu (Proto-Semitic for “most favored” Arabic: أثيرة, Ugartic: 𐎀𐎘𐎗𐎚), or Asherah, is a Semitic mother goddess, who was paired with several gods of the Ancient Near East, such as ʾIlu, Anu or YHWH.
